Hutama Karya begins preparing environmental impact analysis for Sicincin-Bukittinggi toll road
Padang, West Sumatra (ANTARA) - PT Hutama Karya (Persero) has begun preparing the environmental impact analysis (AMDAL) document for the continuation of the national strategic project (PSN), namely the Padang-Pekanbaru toll road on the Sicincin-Bukittinggi section in West Sumatra (Sumbar). “We are starting to prepare the feasibility study, AMDAL, and the land acquisition process,” said Hutama Karya’s President Director Koentjoro in Padang, Sumbar, on Friday. AMDAL is a mandatory requirement before the project begins. This document also relates to studies on the surrounding environment of the project. Koentjoro emphasised that accelerating the project is crucial, given that delays could increase costs and reduce the benefits that can be felt by the community. For this reason, all parties, especially relevant stakeholders, are urged to appoint responsible persons and compile a clear timeline so that the project can be completed according to target. Meanwhile, the Head of the West Sumatra High Prosecutor’s Office, Muhibuddin, affirmed that the implementation of the toll road project must prioritise principles of on-target execution, accurate budgeting, timeliness, quality, and maintaining the integrity of all involved parties. In addition, he emphasised the importance of protecting the community, particularly in the land acquisition process. Local governments are urged to actively build communication with indigenous communities and nagari or villages. “Development must still pay attention to the rights of the people. No party should be disadvantaged,” he said. Previously, Bappenas Deputy for Regional Development Medrilzam encouraged the West Sumatra Provincial Government to accelerate the ongoing PSN projects in the region. One of the PSNs being pushed for prompt completion is the Padang-Pekanbaru toll road construction. Bappenas’s emphasis on the toll road project is important to help accelerate mobility and logistics.
