Husky Slashed in Bekasi Goes Viral, Police Deploy K9 Unit

A husky in Babelan District, Bekasi Regency, West Java, was slashed by an unknown individual. Viral video footage shows the husky with an open wound on its head. The white, grey, and black-furred dog appeared weak and was bleeding from the head. Police have intervened to investigate the incident.

The Bekasi police have involved Polda Metro Jaya in investigating the case. A series of inquiries into the animal abuse case are still being conducted by officers, including deploying a K9 unit from Polda Metro Jaya to the suspected crime scene.

Head of Public Relations for the Metro Bekasi Police, AKP Aliyani, stated that police have also met with the husky’s owner. Police are taking statements from witnesses at the scene to deepen the case. “Police officers have visited the scene, but the owner does not wish to file a police report,” Aliyani said on Monday (20/7).

Although the husky’s owner has not filed a police report, authorities are still investigating the animal abuse case. A series of investigations are ongoing, including searching for evidence of the abuse. “According to the Babelan police chief, it is still under investigation,” he said.

On Thursday (16/7) last week, Polda Metro Jaya Head of Public Relations, Commissioner Budi Hermanto, confirmed the involvement of the animal/K9 unit. Babelan Police officers, together with the Polda Metro Jaya Animal Unit, checked the crime scene and conducted tracking on Tuesday (14/7). The location of the suspected abuse has been identified, but the perpetrator of the slashing is still being sought.

“K9 Zeus scoured a resident’s plantation area from the point of the blood trail, leading to an empty building under renovation, about 50 metres from the location,” he said.

The husky suspected of being slashed was found by its keeper on Sunday (12/7) evening. When found by its owner, the four-legged animal was injured and covered in blood, with a head wound suspected to be from a sharp object. The pet was taken to a veterinarian for wound treatment. In the video, the fine fur on the dog’s head is seen being shaved for treatment of the open wound it sustained.

According to circulating information, the dog suffered four slash wounds and nearly bled to death. Police have also reminded the public that there are legal sanctions for animal abusers.
