Husky Hacked with Machete in Babelan Bekasi, Police Hunt Perpetrator
A Siberian husky has been brutally attacked with a sharp weapon in Babelan, Bekasi Regency, West Java, and police are now hunting for the perpetrator. The dog, which has white, grey, and black fur, was found by its owner on Sunday evening (12/7) in a weak state with open wounds and bleeding from its head. Images of the injured animal have since gone viral on social media.
The Babelan Police have involved the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s K-9 unit in the investigation. ‘It is true that the Metro Jaya Police’s Animal/K-9 Unit has been involved to assist in handling the suspected abuse of a husky dog in the Kebalen area, Babelan, Bekasi Regency,’ said Metro Jaya Police Head of Public Relations, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, to reporters on Thursday (16/7/2026).
A police tracking dog named Zeus was deployed to the crime scene. The K-9 unit combed a local plantation area, following a trail of blood that led to an empty building under renovation, approximately 50 metres from the location. The dog has been taken to a veterinary clinic for treatment, where its head fur was shaved to treat the open wounds. Reports indicate the animal suffered four machete wounds and nearly bled to death. It remains under intensive care. Police have reminded the public that there are legal sanctions for those who abuse animals.
