Husein Sastranegara Airport Prepares to Resume Jet Flight Services

PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, also known as InJourney Airports, has officially begun the optimisation phase for Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung. This step follows a government policy that reopens the opportunity for the airport to serve scheduled commercial air transport using jet aircraft. The optimisation refers to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s letter Number AU.102/1/8/DRJU.DAU/2026. Based on this regulation, Husein Sastranegara Airport is now permitted to handle scheduled domestic and international flight operations, using both jet and propeller aircraft. In addition to scheduled flights, the airport is also projected to serve non-scheduled commercial air transport and non-commercial air transport for domestic and international routes. Currently, the airport’s operations are limited to scheduled domestic flights using propeller aircraft for intra-Java routes. InJourney Airports President Director Mohammad R. Pahlevi stated that the company has formed an Operational Readiness Activation and Transition (ORAT) team to ensure all preparation stages comply with regulatory standards. ‘The preparations refer to the Directorate General of Civil Aviation’s letter, which emphasises that security, safety, and service aspects must meet requirements for the optimisation to proceed well and smoothly,’ Pahlevi said. In the process, InJourney Airports is coordinating intensively with various stakeholders, including the Ministry of Transportation, the Indonesian Air Force, BP BUMN, Danantara, as well as Immigration and Customs. Technical support also involves the Commander of the Husein Sastranegara Air Force Base, airlines, and ground handling operators. To support jet aircraft operations, significant improvements are being made to safety and airside infrastructure. On the service side, InJourney Airports is renovating the domestic and international passenger terminals. The main focus is on rearranging the boarding lounges to enhance passenger comfort. Pahlevi affirmed his commitment to presenting a new face for Husein Sastranegara Airport with better visual interiors and exteriors. ‘We will deliver an airport that prioritises security, safety, service, and compliance with all applicable regulations,’ he concluded.
