PT Angkasa Pura Indonesia, also known as InJourney Airports, is targeting Husein Sastranegara Airport in Bandung, West Java, to resume serving international flights starting in October 2026. Preparations are currently being carried out together with the Ministry of Transportation after the airport reopened commercial domestic jet services.

InJourney Airports President Director Mohammad Rizal Pahlevi said the opening of international routes still requires a number of preparatory stages and coordination with the government.

“It is currently in preparation. Of course, the Ministry of Transportation and Angkasa Pura have been coordinating. Perhaps in the coming months. We estimate it will be in October,” Rizal said in Bandung on Friday (14/8/2026).

Rizal expressed hope that the operation of international flights from Husein would not be merely temporary. According to him, Bandung has a track record and market potential for international flights, especially for regional routes in Southeast Asia.

“But hopefully it will not only be in October, but will be sustainable. Of course, there is a history that Husein once flew the Singapore–Kuala Lumpur route,” Rizal said.

Husein Airport was indeed once the main gateway for international flights for Bandung and its surrounding areas before most commercial flights were diverted to West Java International Airport (BIJB) Kertajati. International routes that were once served from Husein included Kuala Lumpur and Singapore.

The plan for international flights in October is a further stage of Husein’s reactivation. Starting Friday (14/8/2026), the airport resumed scheduled jet services with Garuda Indonesia flights on the Denpasar–Bandung and Bandung–Denpasar routes. InJourney Airports had previously confirmed that operational facilities had been prepared to support the operation.

To support the increase in flights, InJourney Airports has prepared 26 check-in counters, self check-in kiosk machines, security screening equipment in the departure area, three baggage claim conveyor belts, as well as a number of passenger facilities in the terminal.

The reactivation of Husein was carried out after the Directorate General of Civil Aviation of the Ministry of Transportation approved the operational study and safety assessment. The Ministry of Transportation emphasised that the reopening of the airport is being carried out in stages with the principles of safety, security, and compliance with civil aviation regulations.
