Jakarta - The family of a man with the initials ES (30), the suspect in the murder of his wife R (40) at their home on Jalan Padamulya VIII, Angke, Tambora, West Jakarta, supports the law enforcement process against the perpetrator. “If he indeed did it, he must be punished. The family has handed the matter over to the police. Essentially, he is guilty and must receive a just punishment,” said the perpetrator’s younger sibling, Tasya, when contacted in Jakarta on Tuesday. Tasya said the victim, who was her sister-in-law, had allegedly frequently experienced violence before ultimately dying at ES’s hands. The victim had even left home previously due to violence that left her body bruised. “They had always quarrelled; his wife once ran away from home because she was beaten. Her body was completely bruised, back in 2024. But she returned because she could not bear to leave her children,” she said. According to Tasya, the perpetrator indeed had a harsh temperament. However, the family never imagined that the couple’s disputes would end in murder. She also mentioned that the quarrels between the perpetrator and the victim were motivated by economic problems. “There were indeed economic issues as well, which led to frequent quarrelling,” she said. Tasya further revealed that the victim’s death came to light after the couple’s two children came to her as she was about to go out, precisely on Friday afternoon, 19 June. “The children suddenly said, ‘Mama is dead, Mama is dead.’ They said Mama was tied up by Papa,” Tasya recounted, quoting her nephews. “I was shocked and immediately called my friend to check. It turned out to be true; she was seated as if not breathing, her body looked limp,” she said. Tasya then sought help from the neighbourhood unit head as she was afraid to enter the house alone. After being examined, the victim was found lifeless. “I asked where their father was, and they said he was in the bedroom sleeping. He was indeed in the room, but none of us dared to enter,” she said. Seeing the victim’s condition, the neighbourhood unit head then contacted the police. Shortly after, officers from the Tambora Police Sector arrived at the scene. When the police arrived, Tasya said, the perpetrator came out of the house calmly and did not resist. It was discovered that the victim was found with a bedsheet tied around her neck, fastened to a window grille, and fluid coming from her mouth. Previously, police revealed that the murder case involving a husband killing his wife in Angke, Tambora, West Jakarta, was allegedly triggered by a quarrel because the husband was using narcotics. The man with the initials ES (30) killed his wife at their residence on Jalan Padamulya VIII, Angke, Tambora, West Jakarta, on Friday afternoon, 19 June.
