Husband Dies and Wife Critical in Bekasi Following Alleged Assault; Suspect Entered through Window
BEKASI – Police have revealed that the suspect(s) in a murder and assault case that killed EU (65) and left his wife PW (60) in critical condition at Prima Lingkar Asri Housing Complex, Jatibening, Pondok Gede, Bekasi City, allegedly entered the victim’s home through a window on Monday, 2 March 2026 in the early morning hours.
“From our examination of the crime scene, we determined the suspect entered through the window. The window in the front corner (of the house) was damaged,” said Head of Criminal Investigation Bekasi Metro Police Station, Kompol Andi Muhammad Iqbal, when speaking to media at the location on Monday, 2 March 2026.
Andi explained that the suspect allegedly first climbed the front fence of the house, which borders vacant land near Jalan Raya Kalimalang. This theory was supported by the discovery of footprints on the victim’s fence.
“Most likely the suspect came from the front wall and then climbed directly onto the house gate. The front area is vacant land,” said Andi.
“We cannot yet specify the number of suspects. It is likely more than one perpetrator. However, this is still being confirmed,” he added.
Andi revealed that at the time of the incident, the victim’s youngest child, with initials DNA, was in the house. However, the child claimed not to have heard any commotion during the assault.
“The child did not hear anything. The child had been asleep since 1 am and there were no sounds. The child also still found the parents at around 10 am,” said Andi.
Andi stated that the victim’s house was not equipped with security cameras (CCTV). However, police are currently examining CCTV footage from neighbouring residents’ homes.
Investigators are still determining the motive for the incident. However, initial indications point towards a robbery, though the exact motive remains under investigation.
“We are still investigating, so we cannot yet draw conclusions. However, according to the victim’s child, a gold bracelet on the mother’s wrist went missing, as did two sets of car keys,” said Andi.
Police have also secured several pieces of evidence from the crime scene.
“Currently we are securing bed sheets with blood on them and other items with indications,” he said.
The youngest child, after initially trying to wake the mother, received no response and heard only sounds like snoring. Alarmed by the unusual situation, DNA panicked and attempted to seek help from neighbouring residents. However, receiving no response, the child contacted family members. When family arrived, they forcibly opened a window as the main entrance was difficult to access.
“The family then arrived and the window was opened by force. At that point, both victims were found lying down,” he said.
When discovered, EU was lying on the bed covered in blood, whilst PW was on the bedroom floor. EU was declared dead at the scene. PW was in critical condition and was immediately rushed to hospital for medical treatment.
Andi stated that the investigation of this case involves personnel from Pondok Gede Police Station, Bekasi Metro Police Station, and the Metro Jaya Regional Police’s Special Crimes Unit to uncover the perpetrator(s) and motive behind the incident. Police continue to investigate the case.
