Husband detained for murdering wife

DENPASAR, Bali: Police here have detained a 39-year old man, I
Made Jadeng, for allegedly killing his wife in front of their two
children.

Despite trying to escape on a motorcycle, the suspect was
arrested by a police special team on Saturday in the Sidakarya
area of southern Denpasar after a three-day manhunt.

Adj. Sr. Comr. Nicolaus E. Riwayanto, deputy chief of the
Denpasar police, said the suspect had brutally assaulted his 25-
year old wife, Widiastuti Aka Mutiah, before murdering her.

Her body was later found in a cardboard box on Wednesday by
villagers at Wanasari in Tabanan regency, about 15 kilometers
from Denpasar.

The police launched a manhunt for Jadeng after they had
gathered sufficient evidence. --JP
