Husband and Wife in Mojokerto Shocked to Find Baby's Grave in Their Yard

A married couple, Muhammad Irham (52) and Ruchannah (44), residents of Pesanggrahan Village, Kutorejo, Mojokerto, East Java, were shocked by the discovery of a baby’s grave in their yard. The grave of a baby boy was found after they returned from Gresik.

The baby’s grave was located next to the well at their home. The grave was only about 30 centimetres deep.

The head of RT 2, Muhammad Imron, explained that Ruchannah’s house had been empty because she had gone to Menganti, Gresik, to check on her husband’s flower stall earlier in the morning. Ruchannah only returned in the afternoon at around 3.30 p.m. Western Indonesia Time.

“Returning from Gresik, his wife (Ruchannah) found a fresh mound of earth next to the well,” he explained to reporters, as quoted by detikJatim on Sunday (9/8/2026).

Ruchannah, suspicious of the mound of earth, eventually tried to dig it up. At first she found a red cloth, then opened it and was immediately shocked to see a baby’s foot.

“There was no shroud, only a red cloth like a T-shirt. The excavation depth was about 30 centimetres,” Imron explained.

The discovery of the baby’s grave in her yard was immediately reported by Ruchannah to Imron. Imron then reported it directly to the Head of Pesanggrahan Village, which was then forwarded to the Kutorejo Police.
