Husband and Wife Arrested in Kudus for Molotov Cocktail Attack on Home
Police have arrested a husband and wife for throwing a Molotov cocktail at a house in Sambung Village, Undaan District, Kudus Regency. The attack nearly set the victim’s home ablaze. Kudus Police Deputy Chief Commissioner Rendi Johan Prasetyo stated on Tuesday that the suspects, identified as S (40) and HS (36), are residents of Kajar Village, Dawe District. They were apprehended following an intensive investigation by the Criminal Investigation Unit. The incident occurred in the early hours of 22 May 2026, when the victim, HW, heard glass shattering at the front of his house. Upon checking, he found his living room on fire and, with the help of neighbours, managed to extinguish the flames before they spread. During the clean-up, the victim discovered a bottle smelling of petrol with a burnt wick, raising suspicions that led him to report the matter to local community protection officers and the Undaan Police. Officers who arrived at the scene conducted a crime scene investigation, which eventually pointed to the married couple. Under interrogation, the suspects confessed to the crime. The motive was revealed to be the husband’s resentment after learning that the victim had been pursuing his wife, despite a previous relationship between them having ended. While HS was arrested at home, S initially fled into the forest before being captured. Both suspects are charged under Article 308 of Law Number 1 of 2023 concerning the Criminal Code and face a maximum sentence of 12 years in prison.
