Husband allegedly attacks spouse

TANGERANG: A housewife was taken to Fatmawati Hospital in South Jakarta on Monday evening with serious injuries to both her eyes resulting from an alleged assault by her husband.

The victim, Intani, 35, was involved in a quarrel with husband Achmad Fadoli, 41, at her parents' house in Pondok Karya village, Pondok Aren district, Tangerang regency.

When Fadoli left the house at about 7 p.m., Intani's mother, Tuti, 55, found her daughter lying on the floor bleeding from both her eyes. She reported the matter to the Pondok Aren Police.

Pondok Aren Police chief Insp. Tanti Septiani said on Tuesday that neighbors said the couple fought often since marrying in July.

Police allege Fadoli, who is still at large, gouged out his wife's eyes with his fingers. -- JP
