Hungarian president arrives in Indonesia

JAKARTA (JP): Hungarian President Arpad Goncz arrived on the tourist island of Bali Saturday for a four-day visit to Indonesia.

Goncz is also scheduled to visit Jakarta but there has been no official explanation about whom he will meet here.

Goncz and his entourage arrived at the Ngurah Rai International Airport an a special flight of TU 154-B2 from Beijing after a state visit China, Antara reported yesterday.

Clad in a dark suit, he was welcomed by two children in Balinese traditional costumes who presented him with flowers. Seen greeting him were state Minister of Investment/Chairman of Investment Planning Board Sanyoto Sastrowardoyo and local senior government and military officials.

Goncz will be on Bali for three days for sightseeing. Yesterday, he visited Batubulan village, about 15 kilometers from Denpasar, to attend a cultural show.

He will also visit the famed workshop of craftsman Ida Bagus Marta in Kemenuh and other tourist spots, such as Tirta Empul Temple near the Tampak Siring palace in Gianyar. (pan)
