Moscow (ANTARA) - Hungarian Prime Minister Peter Magyar stated that his government remains opposed to accelerating the accession of any country, including Ukraine, to the European Union.

“The position of the Hungarian government regarding the process of Ukraine’s accession to the European Union is clear. There will be no accelerated accession to the European Union for Ukraine or any other country,” Magyar said in a video message on Wednesday.

Hungary will be ready to approve the commencement of negotiations regarding Ukraine’s accession to the European Union if Kyiv adheres to the plan for restoring the rights of Hungarian citizens in Transcarpathia, Magyar said.

He added that Ukraine will need 10 to 15 years to complete all 33 chapters of negotiations on EU accession.
