Hundreds suffer from malnutrition

BANJARMASIN, South Kalimantan: An estimated 1.6 percent of children aged under five in South Kalimantan are malnourished, the provincial health office revealed on Monday.

The assessment followed a recent health survey on some 35,600 children across the province.

Health office head Zairullah Azhar said that the figure was quite alarming, adding that the local government would pursue programs to lower the number.

He said the programs included cooperation with the Asian Development Bank, through food supplement provision for elementary school students. --Antara
