Hundreds stranded in Lampung

BANDARLAMPUNG, Lampung: Hundreds of holidaymakers returning from Java were stranded at the bus terminal in Rajabasa on Sunday night due to a lack of buses to take them home.

They spent the night at the station and awaited the extra buses the government provided yesterday.

The lack of transportation became a problem partly because many buses were already being used to carry thousands of holiday travelers from various parts of the province to Java. They continued streaming back into the port of Bakauheni yesterday.

Rajabasa bus terminal authorities said the busiest day was Dec. 23, when a record high of 18,800 passengers scrambled for buses, Antara reported.(pan)
