A motor vehicle tax raid took place in Cimahi City, West Java. The raid was conducted to increase taxpayer compliance, which will impact the local original revenue (PAD) in Cimahi City.

Based on observations by Republika.co.id on Thursday (7/5/2026), vehicles passing through Jenderal Amir Machmud Street were directed to the Cimahi City Samsat Office. A joint team from the Cimahi Police Traffic Unit, Cimahi Samsat, the Cimahi City Revenue Management Agency (Bappenda), and TNI personnel checked each vehicle’s tax status one by one.

This joint motor vehicle tax raid has been ongoing since Wednesday (6/5/2026). On that day, a total of 564 motor vehicles were processed for payment, comprising 473 two-wheeled vehicles and 93 four-wheeled vehicles. Of those caught, 201 vehicles had not yet fulfilled their obligations.

In detail, 62 vehicles—consisting of 59 motorcycles and 3 cars—issued statements committing to pay soon, while 139 vehicles made payments on the spot, including 17 cars and 122 motorcycles. Additionally, the joint team impounded 6 vehicles and issued traffic tickets to 22 vehicles.

“Today, after carrying out the task of operating inspections on motor vehicle taxes, particularly two-wheeled and four-wheeled vehicles,” said Cimahi Mayor Ngatiyana at the location.

Ngatiyana, who joined the tax inspection this time, still found taxpayers with overdue payments. Thus, vehicle owners caught with overdue taxes were directed to pay immediately or issue a statement to return to the Samsat Office.

“Earlier, we found several members of the public who were still overdue. I can say that we still encountered some vehicles, and some owners were aware enough to pay. But for those who haven’t paid, we hold them and stop them first to settle their obligations. Here, they are served directly on the field,” said Ngatiyana.

He explained that this joint operation is aimed at increasing public compliance in fulfilling their obligations to pay taxes. This is because vehicle taxes are one of the contributors to PAD in Cimahi City, which will later be allocated for development such as roads and others.

Based on data from the Cimahi City Bappenda, the realisation of motor vehicle tax revenue recorded up to 6 May 2026 reached Rp20,804,482,500, or 28.21% of this year’s target of Rp73,739,622,462.

“We need to inform that in terms of operations, Cimahi City has only reached around 28% who have fulfilled their obligations by paying vehicle taxes,” said Ngatiyana.
