Hundreds of Tuberculosis Cases in Batang Regency's Coastal Area Undergo Screening

Tuberculosis (TB) cases remain high, with hundreds of cases recorded in Batang Regency as the local government organises a Free Health Check (Cek Kesehatan Gratis, CKG) and TB screening using Mobile X-ray for residents in the coastal area. On Wednesday (20 May), hundreds of residents from three coastal villages in Kandeman District — Karanggeneng, Ujungnegoro and Ponowareng — attended their village halls to participate in the Free Health Check and TB screening using Mobile X-ray. The activity, conducted in collaboration with PT Bhimasena Power Indonesia (BPI), was held in response to the high TB burden in the area; as of 18 May 2026, hundreds of cases were being treated at several hospitals and community health centres in Batang. “There are still 451 TB cases currently being treated across health facilities in Batang Regency; the TB screening using Mobile X-ray is a measure for early detection,” said Ida Susilaksmi, Head of Batang District Health Office, on Wednesday (20 May). Based on data up to 18 May 2026, Ida Susilaksmi noted that Batang’s TB caseload is distributed as follows: RSUD Batang 96 cases, RS QIM 70 cases, RSUD Limpung 39 cases, Puskesmas Bawang 29, Puskesmas Warungasem 23, and Puskesmas Tulis and Puskesmas Subah each with 19 cases. The domiciles of TB patients show Warungasem District the highest with 44 cases, followed by Bawang (41), Subah (32), Tulis (31), Batang (30) and Kandeman (28). Deputy Health Minister Dante Saksono Harbuwono said the rate of TB transmission in correctional facilities is much higher than in the open environment. In Bogor City, 9,947 TB cases were identified; the City Government’s Health Service carried out screening at 20 points.
