West Jakarta Police Resort converted the Child-Friendly Integrated Public Space (RPTRA) Kalijodo, on Jalan Pangeran Tubagus Angke, into a 100-metre sprint arena on Friday, 6 March 2026.

The 100-metre sprint competition was attended by 105 youths from junior high school (SMP) to senior high school (SMA), including both boys and girls.

The event, which ran from 10:00 p.m. local time (WIB) until just before the sahur pre-dawn meal, was organised as a police initiative to channel young people’s energy into positive activities during the holy month of Ramadhan.

‘The main objectives of this activity are threefold: to promote a culture of healthy living in urban communities, to create a cooling-off mechanism for security through positive activities in public spaces, and to strengthen silaturahmi between the police and the community,’ said West Jakarta Metro Police Chief, Kombes Pol Twedi Aditya Bennyahdi, in a press release on Saturday, 7 March 2026.

He added that utilising public facilities for communal activities is key to minimising public order disturbances, especially during Ramadhan.

‘TWhen public spaces are filled with positive activities such as sport, space for negative activities like street racing or brawls becomes narrower,’ he said.

He noted that the Night Run could be a moment to demonstrate that West Jakarta youths can engage in positive activities and help maintain the safety of the area together.

‘My hope is that this Night Run can strengthen the togetherness between the police and residents in maintaining safe and peaceful community order during Ramadhan,’ he concluded.
