The menu distributed on Monday included nasi kuning (yellow rice), telur dadar (omelette), abon, tempe orek, cucumber, tomato, and watermelon. “Chronology of suspected MBG package poisoning at SMPN 4 Temanggung, Monday 18 May, with menu nasi kuning, telur dadar, orek tempe, abon, semangka, mentimun, and tomat,” said Ismu Alim, a teacher at SMPN 4 Temanggung, to reporters, as quoted by detikJateng, on Friday 22 May 2026.
The school received 600 MBG packs from SPPG Tlogorejo 01 around 10:00 WIB on Monday, and these MBG packs were distributed to ninth-grade students at 10:30 WIB, followed by seventh and eighth grades at 11:35 WIB.
“On Tuesday 19 May, many students were absent because of diarrhoea, stomach pains, nausea, vomiting, and dizziness, with reports flooding the PIC coordination group at 08:08 WIB,” he added.
“This emergency situation resulted in two SMPN 4 Temanggung students being treated at RSUD Temanggung and Rumah Sakit Gunung Sawo. They were followed by a teacher admitted to RSUD Temanggung at 16:00 WIB after suffering diarrhoea since the early hours at 01:00 WIB,” Ismu said.
Ismu noted that after the incident, data collection was carried out via a digital Google Form released on Tuesday 19 May at 21:00 WIB, which drew 340 responses. The initial result showed 248 people affected in total. A second, more detailed Google Form on Wednesday 20 May at 07:00 WIB collected 240 responses. To ensure accuracy, the MBG team at SMPN 4 Temanggung cross-verified data using the SPPG Tlogorejo records. The final tally showed a wide impact: 232 students and 16 teachers and school administrative staff identified as experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms ranging from stomach ache to dizziness, nausea, vomiting and diarrhoea,” he added.
Ismu added that, as of now, some teachers remained hospitalised at RSUD and had not yet returned home, receiving treatment since the afternoon of Tuesday 19 May.
