Hundreds of South Jakarta Satpol PP Personnel Guard Security in Tourist Areas
Jakarta (ANTARA) - As many as 160 personnel from the South Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP Jaksel) are maintaining public order and tranquillity at several tourist locations during the Eid al-Fitr 1447 Hijri holiday period in the area. “Security, monitoring, and patrols are conducted in accordance with Regional Regulation Number 8 of 2007 on Public Order, as well as the Instruction of the Head of the DKI Jakarta Provincial Satpol PP Number e-0022 of 2026 regarding the Praja Orderly Operation in connection with securing the Nyepi and Eid al-Fitr holidays,” said the Head of South Jakarta Satpol PP, Nanto Dwi Subekti, in Jakarta on Wednesday. Nanto stated that the deployment of personnel is part of an integrated security effort to anticipate a surge in visitors at various favourite destinations for the public. He explained that the hundreds of personnel are distributed to several points that have the potential to experience an increase in the number of tourists, such as Ragunan Zoo and the Setu Babakan Betawi Cultural Village. In addition, security is also carried out in city parks that serve as alternative tourist destinations for residents. One of them is at Taman Bendera Pusaka, where Satpol PP has also set up a monitoring post. “All personnel are placed on a rotational or shift system so that supervision runs optimally and effectively in the field,” he said. Therefore, they urge the public who are sightseeing to maintain order and comply with the applicable rules. He also emphasised the importance of vigilance regarding carried items and following the directions of officers for mutual comfort. “If you encounter obstacles at tourist locations, immediately coordinate with the officers. We hope that the presence of personnel in the field can provide a sense of safety and comfort for all visitors,” he said.
