A total of 305 Sekolah Rakyat students, along with teachers and education staff, officially began occupying the new functional building in Sinjai Regency, South Sulawesi, on Saturday (15/08).

“Our students have already entered the dormitories and the school, both new students and continuing students, totalling 305 children across all levels (primary, lower secondary, and upper secondary),” said Rahmat Surianto, Head of Sekolah Rakyat Terintegrasi (SRT) Sinjai, in Makassar on Sunday.

The school has admitted 230 new students out of the 270 available places. However, based on interim outreach results, only 230 children were identified. The remaining students from the previous academic year number 75.

New students will take part in a continuation of the school environment introduction period through boarding programmes before receiving learning materials involving teachers, education staff, and guest partners, including the Indonesian National Armed Forces, from Tuesday 19 August until the end of August.

Matriculation activities will then be held throughout September to prepare students for classroom learning.

Rahmat said that although the building is not yet 100 per cent complete, its condition is considered adequate for SRT activities, including the dormitories.

SRT in Sinjai Regency has also prepared 26 guest teachers for new students, including 17 upper secondary school teachers.
