Hundreds of Ride-hailing Drivers Queue from Dawn in Cibubur over Alleged THR Handout by "Pak Haji" — Turns Out to Be Hoax

Hundreds of ride-hailing drivers gathered in front of Taman Wiladatika, Cibubur, on Wednesday, 11 March 2026 at approximately 05.21 Western Indonesian Time (WIB).

They assembled after receiving information about the distribution of holiday allowances (THR) by a figure referred to as “Pak Haji”. The information spread via WhatsApp broadcast messages among driver groups.

According to posts from Instagram account @depok24jam, the gathering of drivers was visible queuing around the location, with their vehicles even taking up one entire road lane. The situation caused significant traffic congestion in the Cibubur Alternative Road area.

Several drivers admitted they had arrived around 03.00 WIB to queue after receiving information about the THR distribution.

The lengthy vehicle queue impeded traffic flow towards several points in the Cibubur area. Congestion was reported from directions leading towards Cibubur Junction, the LRT access route, the TransJakarta bus stop, and Cibubur Toll access. Vehicle congestion also extended to the Plaza Cibubur area. From other directions, traffic experienced slowdowns from the Taruna Jaya area and Jambore Road.

The incident also drew public attention after recordings of the queuing ride-hailing drivers circulated on social media.

According to post narratives, by approximately 07.30 WIB, the figure referred to as “Pak Haji” had not appeared at the location.

Cimanggis Police Chief Kompol Jupriono confirmed the queue of ride-hailing drivers around Taman Wiladatika Cibubur following receipt of a chain message claiming that someone named Haji Popki would distribute THR of 400,000 rupiah.

Jupriono confirmed the information was false.

“That is false news, that there would be a distribution of 400,000 rupiah in holiday allowance per person this morning by Haji Popki,” said Jupriono when confirmed by journalists on Wednesday afternoon.

The gathering of drivers who had been waiting at the location gradually diminished after no confirmation materialised regarding the THR distribution.
