Approximately one hundred joint police personnel from the Semarang Metropolitan Police were deployed to secure the trial of non-active Pati Regent Sudewa at the Semarang Corruption Court in Central Java on Monday. Hundreds of the Pati Regent’s supporters crowded in front of the Semarang Corruption Court building located on Jalan Suratmo, Semarang City. Semarang District Court spokesperson Hadi Sunoto stated that the security measures were implemented after the court coordinated with the Semarang Metropolitan Police. He said the security was also intended to limit the number of visitors entering the courtroom due to space constraints. He noted that the trial of Regent Sudewa with the agenda of reading the indictment was held today. In this case, Sudewa is being tried in two matters, namely alleged bribery in a project at the Directorate General of Railways of the Ministry of Transportation and alleged extortion of village officials in Pati Regency. In the alleged DJKA project bribery case, Sudewa is being tried in his capacity as a former member of Commission V of the House of Representatives.
