Japanese restaurant chain Marugame Udon marked its 13th anniversary by launching a social initiative during Ramadan themed “Sharing Ramadan’s Warmth”, focused on providing assistance to orphaned children across various regions in Indonesia.

A key activity took place at the Anni’mah Orphanage in the Jakarta area on Thursday, 12 March. The event featured shared activities including collective recitation of blessings, games, and concluded with breaking the fast together with the orphans.

Approximately 100 orphaned children from the orphanage participated in the warm gathering.

Beyond Jakarta, Marugame Udon expanded its outreach programme by distributing 800 Ramadan aid packages and assistance to orphaned children across multiple regions. The social programme was implemented through collaboration with the Baitulmaal Muamalat (BMM) philanthropic organisation, which assisted in distributing aid to various areas.

The distribution reached 15 Indonesian cities: Jakarta, Bekasi, Depok, Purwakarta, Tasikmalaya, Sukabumi, Batam, Pontianak, Samarinda, Makassar, Semarang, Purwokerto, Malang, Banda Aceh, and Medan.

The distribution aimed to reach more orphaned children in need whilst expanding the positive impact of the company’s sharing programme.

PT Marugame Udon Indonesia Chief Executive Officer Hadian Iswara stated that the company’s anniversary celebration was intended not only for customers but also to benefit those in need.

“We hope that Marugame Udon’s 13th anniversary celebration will benefit not only our customers but also those who are in need,” Hadian said.

He explained that the donation programme also involved customer participation, as a portion of sales from specially designated children’s menu items was allocated as social assistance.

“Through every Kids Menu purchase, Marugame Udon donates Rp1,300 for orphaned children across 15 Indonesian cities,” he stated.

In this way, customers not only enjoyed their meal but also indirectly contributed to social activities.

Through this initiative, the company hoped to bring happiness and strengthen the spirit of sharing during Ramadan, particularly for children in need of attention and support from the community.
