Hundreds of Motorcycles Targeted in Valve Removal Operation in Kembangan, West Jakarta
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Joint officers from the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department (Sudinhub) conducted a ‘valve removal operation’ (OCP) against hundreds of two-wheeled vehicles parked illegally in the CNI area, Kars Kembangan, on Monday.
The Head of Operations for the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department, Agus Prasetyo, stated that this firm action was a response to community reports regarding public anxiety over the increasing number of vehicles parked on roadsides and in public facilities.
“In this activity, our focus was on taking action against two-wheeled vehicles. As a result, hundreds of vehicles were caught, with details showing 150 vehicles subjected to the valve removal operation (OCP) sanctions and eight other vehicles being directly transported by truck,” Agus said in Jakarta on Monday.
This large-scale enforcement operation deployed at least 30 joint personnel. In addition to targeting vehicles, the operation also intercepted four illegal parking attendants (jukir) who frequently operate in the area.
“The four illegal parking attendants were immediately recorded and secured by officers to undergo further legal processes,” said Agus.
Agus expressed hope that this mass enforcement would provide a genuine deterrent effect for both vehicle owners and individuals exploiting social and public facilities illegally. “Our officers will routinely conduct mobile surveillance. Not only in CNI Kembangan, but also in other locations in West Jakarta that are prone to illegal parking,” Agus added.
Meanwhile, the Head of the West Jakarta Civil Service Police Unit (Satpol PP), Herry Purnama, explained that illegal parking activities and unauthorised parking attendants clearly violate Regional Regulation (Perda) Number 8 of 2007 concerning Public Order. Herry emphasised that his department is ready to fully support the West Jakarta Transportation Sub-Department in sweeping through high-risk illegal parking spots to restore road functions and pedestrian rights.
“The presence of illegal parking not only triggers traffic congestion, but those parking on pavements are clearly infringing upon rights and disturbing the comfort of pedestrians,” concluded Herry.
