Ahmad Syah Farhan (ASF), the CEO of Hanania Group, has been detained and named a suspect in a case of alleged fraud and embezzlement related to Umrah travel packages. His actions have left numerous victims unable to travel to Mecca for their religious pilgrimage.

Among the affected is Rosiani, who claims to have lost hundreds of millions of rupiah. She explained that raising the funds for the trip with her husband was difficult, and her trust in Hanania was shattered when they were scammed.

‘It wasn’t easy to save up for this with my husband. I trusted Hanania to send us, but we were duped like this,’ Rosiani told tvOne’s Kabar Petang programme.

‘We were supposed to depart on June 16, but on May 27, we received a broadcast message from ASF, the Hanania owner, stating they couldn’t send us as pilgrims without any clear reason,’ she added.

The following day, victims visited the travel agency’s office demanding clarity on the cancellation. The CEO cited poor financial health of the agency, stating that customer funds were redirected to support other struggling companies.

‘He only claimed the money was used for internal issues but didn’t specify details,’ she said.

‘The solutions offered to us pilgrims are vague and baseless, with no evidence to support them,’ she continued.

The agency has proposed rescheduling for victims by partnering with other Umrah travel agencies. Previously, ASF had suggested a staggered departure schedule over six months, with collaboration from other travel agencies to assist the affected pilgrims.
