Hundreds of Grams of Precious Metals and Foreign Currency Seized by KPK in Immigration Directorate-General Sting Operation
The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has seized hundreds of grams of gold precious metals following a sting operation (OTT) within the Directorate-General of Immigration under the Ministry of Immigration and Correctional Services. “The team secured precious metals in the form of gold. There are approximately hundreds of grams,” stated KPK Spokesperson Budi Prasetyo in front of the KPK Juang Building, Jakarta, on Wednesday.
In addition, Budi added that KPK investigators also seized cash, including foreign currency, as well as bank accounts. “Some are in foreign currency and some are in bank accounts. We will check the total amounts later,” he said.
He also noted that the KPK has seized 3ng 33 units of vehicles, consisting of seven cars, 15 motorcycles, and 11 bicycles. The KPK initially confirmed conducting the sting operation at the Class I Non-TPI Immigration Office of West Jakarta. This marks the 11th such operation recorded during 2026.
The operation is linked to allegations regarding the processing of residence permits for foreign nationals, specifically Permanent Stay Permits (KITAP) and Limited Stay Permits (KITAS). During the operation, which commenced on Tuesday night, 2 June 2026, the KPK detained dozens of individuals, including the Head of the Class I Non-TPI West Jakarta Immigration Office, Ronald Arman Abdullah.
On Wednesday evening, the KPK announced a search for the Deputy Minister of Immigration and Correctional Services, Silmy Karim, in connection with the series of operations. As of Wednesday night, the KPK announced that 17 people had been detained, comprising eight state officials or civil servants and nine private sector individuals acting as intermediaries in the processing of immigration documents. Among the 17 detainees are Ronald Arman Abdullah, the Head of the West Java Immigration Regional Office Jaya Saputra, and the Acting Director-General of Immigration for the October 2024–April 2025 period, Saffar Muhammad Godam.
