Hundreds of Garbage Trucks Besiege Bali Governor Wayan Koster's Office
A crowd with hundreds of garbage trucks belonging to the Bali Self-Managed Waste Forum (SSB) arrived at the office of Bali Governor I Wayan Koster. The crowd staged an action regarding the ban on disposing of organic waste at the Suwung landfill starting 1 April 2026.
Observations at the location on Jalan Basuki Rahmat, Renon, Denpasar, showed the trucks beginning to arrive around 10:32 WITA on Thursday (16/4/2026). The trucks lined up from the western end in front of the Bali DPRD office to the eastern side in front of the Bali-Nusra Environmental Control Agency office.
“There are nearly 300 of them here,” said one of the protesters.
The crowd filling the location consisted of waste transporters protesting the Bali Provincial Government’s policy on banning the disposal of organic waste at the Suwung landfill starting 1 April 2026. They also brought banners with the demands they intended to convey.
Dozens of police officers were also on guard in front of the Bali-Nusra Environmental Control Agency office. This was because the crowd was planned to hold speeches in front of that office.
Bali Governor Wayan Koster was also known to have arrived along with the Head of the Bali Environmental Agency, I Made Dwi Arbani.
