Jakarta - The National Police’s Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) has uncovered an international online gambling network operating in the Hayam Wuruk area of Jakarta.

Member of Commission III Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi has commended the Bareskrim Polri team for successfully dismantling the international online gambling operation in the Hayam Wuruk area and securing hundreds of foreign nationals suspected of involvement.

“I appreciate the success of the Bareskrim Polri team in uncovering the international online gambling practice in the Hayam Wuruk area and securing hundreds of foreign nationals suspected of being involved,” said Aboe Bakar Alhabsyi in his statement on Sunday (10/5/2026).

“We in the DPR RI’s Commission III encourage every firm step by Polri in eradicating online gambling. This must be a serious concern because online gambling has become one of the dominant causes of various social ills in society,” he stated.

Many household problems, debts, criminality, and even the destruction of the future of the younger generation stem from online gambling practices.

“Therefore, the eradication of online gambling must be carried out consistently and sustainably,” he emphasised.

“We hope that Polri continues to strengthen coordination and supervision of such international networks so that Indonesia is not used as a base for digital crime operations,” he revealed.

Of the total foreign nationals secured, 228 are from Vietnam, 57 from China, 13 from Myanmar, 11 from Laos, five from Thailand, and three each from Malaysia and Cambodia.
