Hundreds of Extreme Poor Residents in Situbondo Receive Business Capital Assistance

Situbondo (ANTARA) - Hundreds of residents categorised as extremely poor in Situbondo Regency, East Java, have received social assistance under the Productive Economic Business (UEP) programme in the form of cash to enhance their income and productivity.

The Productive Economic Business cash social assistance of IDR 1.5 million, a programme of the East Java Provincial Government, was handed over symbolically by Situbondo Deputy Regent Ulfiyah in the courtyard of the Situbondo Regency Social Service Office on Thursday.

“We want the recipients of this UEP programme assistance to truly utilise it for their business productivity, and not for other purposes,” said Deputy Regent Ulfiyah.

According to her, the cash assistance is indeed for the very needy community, and it also serves as a stimulus for them to continue creating and building productivity.

In the 2026 fiscal year, said Ulfiyah, a total of 217 residents in the extreme poor category in Situbondo received cash assistance of IDR 1.5 million per person.

“This economic activity programme assistance aims to increase income, productivity, and the welfare of the community through various types of businesses,” stated Deputy Regent Ulfiyah.

Acting Head of the Situbondo Regency Social Service Office, Viskanto Adi Prabowo, mentioned that the 217 recipients of the UEP cash assistance programme in 2026 are spread across 11 sub-districts.

“So, this UEP programme assistance is given to extreme poor community recipients, rotating each year, and the recipients are determined by the East Java Provincial Government,” he said.

Viskanto added that the business capital assistance recipients also signed documents stating that the assistance will be used for business activities.
