Hundreds of Etomidate Vapes Seized from Foreign National in Ancol Kidnapping Case Valued at Rp 2 Billion
North Jakarta Metropolitan Police have revealed that the street value of hundreds of vapes containing etomidate liquid, seized during the investigation into a kidnapping case by a foreign national in Ancol, exceeds Rp 2 billion.
The Head of Narcotics Unit of North Jakarta Metropolitan Police, AKBP Ari Galang Saputra, stated that they confiscated a total of 842 ready-to-distribute etomidate vape cartridges from two locations in North Jakarta.
“If we calculate, he sells one etomidate vape cartridge for approximately between 2.5 and 3 million. And if we combine them, there are about 842 cartridges worth more than 2 billion,” said Galang during a press conference at the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Wednesday (13/5/2026).
Galang explained that CH carried out the entire production process himself, from mixing the liquid to filling it into the vape cartridges.
“Thus, from the beginning, he creates the composition, puts it in a measuring glass, from cooking, mixing, to filling it into the cartridge, all roles are handled by CH,” he said.
According to Galang, the raw material for etomidate was imported from China via courier services and disguised as kitchen spices.
“For smuggling the raw materials, he uses courier services. However, it is wrapped in plastic and camouflaged with kitchen spices,” he said.
“The penalty for the suspect is that anyone who without rights produces, imports, exports, or distributes Group 2 narcotics shall be imprisoned for a minimum of 4 years and a maximum of 12 years and fined at least category 4, at most category 5,” added Galang.
This case came to light after police found hundreds of etomidate vape cartridges at the location where suspect CH kidnapped a minor in Ancol, North Jakarta, on Saturday (25/4/2026).
“At the second crime scene, we found several items, namely empty cartridges that were allegedly to be used by the perpetrator to fill with the etomidate vapes,” said Galang when met by Kompas.com at the North Jakarta Metropolitan Police Headquarters on Wednesday (6/5/2026).
“At the third crime scene, we found hundreds of etomidate vapes that were already packaged and ready for distribution,” he continued.
