Hundreds of Dogs Seized After Boy Killed in Attack in Bogor, 4 Found Dead

Bogor Police have secured hundreds of hunting dogs following the death of a nine-year-old boy who was attacked in Jasinga, Bogor. The dogs are currently undergoing health checks to prevent the spread of infectious or zoonotic diseases.

“In addition to law enforcement, Bogor Police are moving swiftly to anticipate the threat of infectious or zoonotic diseases. A total of 125 animals are subject to this handling process. Specifically, 109 animals have been secured alive, 4 were found dead, and 12 others are currently missing and being searched for,” stated Bogor Police Chief AKBP Wikha Ardilestanto on Monday (8/6/2026).

Wikha noted that the police are collaborating with the Bogor Regency Department of Livestock and Fisheries (Disnakan) to conduct tracking, sterilisation, and rabies testing on the hundreds of animals involved in this case. The 109 live dogs are currently being isolated to monitor for potential rabies.

“Today, we are directly overseeing the testing of samples at the National Police Criminal Investigation Agency (Bareskrim Polri) Laboratory. The handling of the Jasinga case is being conducted thoroughly and on a large scale,” said Wikha.

He added that the police and medical teams from Disnakan are focusing on strict observation and the isolation of the 109 secured animals to ensure there are no indications of the rabies virus, the results of which are crucial for further medical management.

It was previously reported on social media that a video surfaced showing the discovery of the body of a nine-year-old boy in Jasinga, Bogor, West Java. The victim is believed to have died after being bitten by wild boar hunting dogs. The discovery of the boy’s body was confirmed by Jasinga Police Chief Iptu Agus Hidayat. The victim, identified by the initials MAS, was reportedly fishing when the attack occurred.

“It is true, a body was found. The discovery location was in Sipak Village, Jasinga. The victim was nine years old, according to information from the family. The victim’s name is MAS,” Iptu Agus confirmed to reporters on Sunday (7/6/2026).

“Initial information from residents suggested the victim was fishing and was bitten by dogs (wild boar hunters). This is just the initial information and is currently suspected. After officers checked the location, it was confirmed that the body of a young child was indeed present,” he added.
