Hundreds affected by 6.7 magnitude earthquake in Sigi, one fatality reported
Hundreds of residents have been affected by a magnitude 6.7 earthquake that struck Sigi Regency, Central Sulawesi, with one person confirmed dead. The National Disaster Management Agency (BNPB) reported that the quake, which occurred on Monday at 10.27 WIB, impacted approximately 110 families, totalling 312 individuals. Among the victims, 25 people sustained minor injuries and 13 suffered serious injuries. The earthquake also caused damage to residential properties, with 12 houses severely damaged, six moderately damaged, and 26 suffering light damage. Local authorities have deployed integrated medical teams and established health posts to treat those affected. Residents in villages such as Kamarora A and Kamarora B have been taking shelter under tents as a precaution against potential aftershocks.
