Hun Sen reassures on ASEAN safety
CAMBODIA: Prime Minister Hun Sen on Tuesday said his country would not be targeted for a terrorist attack, and gave assurances that security for the upcoming ASEAN summit of Southeast Asian leaders would be adequate.
His reassurance came ahead of the Nov. 4-5 annual summit for the 10-member Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) and follows similar remarks by Cambodia's foreign minister and top police chief.
However, Cambodia has not been immune to attacks since civil war ended in 1998.
Diplomats say Western interests in Phnom Penh have been included on a list of targets, which included Bali, by Osama bin Laden's al-Qaeda network. --AFP
