Hun Sen hails ASEAN meet
CAMBODIA: Prime Minister Hun Sen returned to Phnom Penh on Wednesday with a string of victories from this year's annual summit of Southeast Asian leaders in Brunei, officials said.
Hun Sen's spokesman Chem Widhya described the meeting as a great success for Cambodia, adding the country was ready to hold the next ASEAN summit in Phnom Penh.
Cambodia will also host the ASEAN tourism meeting and the Great Mekong sub-region meeting in Phnom Penh in 2002.
During the meet, Hun Sen had met most ASEAN leaders and convinced the Chinese to transfer a US$50-million loan from a dam building project to be used on construction of a road from the eastern province of Kratie to Stung Treng. --AFP
