Humorists' photos to be displayed
JAKARTA (JP): Fifty photos of well-known Indonesian humorists and comedians, past and present, will be displayed in an exhibition, from Aug. 1 to Aug. 30, at the Boim Cafe.
The exhibition, being held to celebrate the 50th anniversary of Indonesia's independence, is scheduled to be opened by State Minister for Youth Affairs and Sports Hayono Isman, television personality Harry de Fretes, better known as Boim, chief organizer of the exhibition, told Antara on Saturday.
Harry, a comedian and film actor, said the event will coincide with the grand opening of a "comedy cafe", called Boim Cafe, named after Harry's nickname. Harry is the manager of the cafe.
He said the exhibition is a form of respect for the profession of comedians, while also remembering renowned comedians who have died, including S. Bagio, Bing Slamet, Gepeng and many others. (bas)
