Intan Jaya—The Indonesian National Police is intensifying Operation Damai Cartenz 2026 in Intan Jaya District, Central Papua. Law enforcement personnel are prioritising a humanistic approach to maintain security stability whilst building public trust in interior Papua regions.

The strategy centres on direct dialogue with communities to ensure the security situation remains conducive. This activity forms part of preventive measures to maintain public security and order (kamtibmas), whilst strengthening partnership relations between law enforcement and residents.

Personnel from Operation Damai Cartenz 2026 conducted dialogue patrols in Sugapa District, Intan Jaya District, on Sunday, 1 March 2026. Before deploying to the field, personnel participated in readiness briefings as part of internal consolidation.

The team then moved to several strategic points and public facilities to ensure community activities proceeded safely and smoothly. This included visiting Sugapa Health Centre and engaging in direct dialogue with healthcare workers and local residents. Rather than simply issuing security warnings, law enforcement also listened to residents’ concerns about their living conditions. Communication took place in a warm and open atmosphere, reflecting the persuasive approach adopted in the operation.

Patrols subsequently continued to vital banking facilities in the Sugapa area. The police presence aimed to ensure public services continued normally whilst providing a sense of security for community members.

Brigadier General Faizal Ramadhani, Operation Commander for Damai Cartenz 2026, stated that dialogue patrols form part of a preventive strategy oriented towards partnership and humanistic approaches. He confirmed that every police presence in the field brings a sense of security and tranquillity to the community.

“The humanistic approach is key to building trust and strengthening synergy in maintaining public security and order,” Faizal said.

In agreement, Senior Commissioner Adarma Sinaga, Deputy Operation Commander for Damai Cartenz 2026, added that direct communication between law enforcement and the public would continue to be strengthened. He noted that security is not solely the responsibility of law enforcement, but rather the result of collective collaboration.

“Therefore, we encourage personnel to always engage with professionalism, courtesy, and solutions-oriented mindsets in every interaction with the community,” he stated.
