Human Skeleton Found at Nusa Penida Beach Laid to Rest
An incomplete human skeleton previously discovered at Ceningan Beach, Lembongan Village, Nusa Penida District, Klungkung, was finally laid to rest by police on Saturday 28 February 2026.
The Nusa Penida District Police Chief, Kompol I Ketut Kesuma Jaya, stated that the burial of the unidentified remains represented a moral and humanitarian responsibility of the police towards every individual regardless of background or identity.
“We are present to assist the burial process to ensure every body is treated with humanity,” said Kesuma Jaya on Saturday 28 February 2026.
Although the remains remain unidentified to date, given their incomplete state when discovered, the investigation will continue to establish the identity of the deceased even following burial.
“Before burial, we conducted legal procedures and forensic identification to anticipate potential family inquiries in the future,” said Kesuma Jaya.
The skeleton was previously discovered at Ceningan Beach on Tuesday 24 February 2026, prompting residents of Lembongan Village to report the findings to the Nusa Penida District Police for handling.
“Yes, that is correct. An incomplete human skeleton was found,” confirmed Kesuma Jaya on Wednesday 25 February 2026.
