Human Skeleton Discovered After Land Fire in Tanjungpinang

The discovery of a human skeleton on Jalan Kampung Mekar Jaya, Tanjungpinang, is currently under police investigation. The remains were found by a local resident, identified only as S, on Monday afternoon, 10 August 2026, moments after a land fire in the area was extinguished. According to Tanjungpinang Timur Police Chief, Ajun Komisaris Polisi Ahmad Syahputra, the witness spotted the skeleton near a water reservoir building after the flames had died down. Police personnel arrived at the scene to secure the area and conduct a crime scene investigation. The skeleton was subsequently transported to Raja Ahmad Tabib (RAT) Hospital in Tanjungpinang for a post-mortem examination. Authorities are continuing their inquiries to establish the identity of the deceased and the circumstances surrounding the death. Police have urged anyone with information related to the case to come forward to assist with the investigation.
