Human Rights Minister Receives Garuda Wisnu Kencana Staff for President Prabowo
Jembrana, Bali — Human Rights Minister Natalius Pigai has received a symbolic staff topped with a Garuda Wisnu Kencana head, presented by the Marhaenis Youth Movement for President Prabowo Subianto as a symbol of support for the government.
“I accept this gift, but I request that it be accompanied by a note explaining the philosophy of this staff before I hand it over to the President,” said Pigai, following the presentation during the Marhaenis Youth Movement Congress held in Jembrana Regency, Bali, on Saturday.
In his keynote address at the 11th Marhaenis Youth Congress, Minister Pigai stated that President Prabowo Subianto’s programmes and policies are aligned with the principles of Marhaenist ideology, which is rooted in the teachings of Bung Karno.
According to the Minister, Prabowo possesses a patriotic and nationalist spirit, standing alongside the Marhaen people just as Bung Karno did. “Free nutritious meals, the Merah Putih village cooperatives, and the development of fishing villages are several examples of the President implementing Marhaen principles,” he said.
He further noted that the current administration is working to protect the nation’s natural resources to ensure they are not sold to foreign entities. Using an oratory style, he remarked that many nations have progressed after initiating development from their villages. “There are many examples of a country becoming advanced after its rural communities prosper. This is what the government is currently implementing,” he added.
He argued that upholding Bung Karno’s Marhaenist teachings means closing the gap between the rich and the poor, ensuring that farmers, fishermen, and labourers are masters in their own country. Because he believes the President adheres to Marhaenist ideology, Pigai personally stated that, as an assistant to the President, he shares the same ideological convictions.
“My defence of the Marhaen people has been ongoing since my time as Chairman of the National Commission on Human Rights (Komnas HAM). I have had to handle approximately 15,000 human rights violation cases, where the victims were, on average, the common people,” he said.
The 11th Congress of the Marhaenis Youth Movement was held at the Jimbarwana Palace, owned by member of the Regional Representative Council (DPD RI) Shri I Gusti Ngurah Arya Wedakarna.
