Andrie Yunus, Vice Coordinator of the Commission for Disappeared Persons and Victims of Violence (Kontras), continues to require intensive medical care following an acid attack on Thursday, 12 March 2026 in the evening.

Kontras Coordinator Dimas Bagus Arya stated that medical examination results indicate Andrie sustained approximately 24 per cent burn injuries across his body resulting from the inflammatory reaction caused by the corrosive liquid contacting his skin.

“The burns are primarily concentrated on the facial area (particularly the right side), right eye, both hands, and chest,” he said in a statement confirmed by Republika on Saturday, 14 March 2026.

According to Dimas, among the various injuries sustained, the most serious condition affects the right eye. However, Andrie has been receiving specialised treatment from an ophthalmology surgeon.

“Given the severity of the injuries sustained, Andrie Yunus requires intensive care in sterile conditions to ensure optimal recovery,” he stated.

Kontras indicated it would fully respect and entrust the medical treatment process to the medical team and hospital authorities. Andrie hopes the public will continue to monitor the ongoing legal process, deeming this necessary to ensure thorough investigation of the acid attack and that the perpetrator is prosecuted according to applicable law by law enforcement authorities.

Previously, the Metro Jaya Police Public Relations Head, Senior Commissioner Budi Hermanto, stated police had examined two witnesses—local residents who witnessed the incident at the crime scene.

“We have interviewed two witnesses, local residents who saw and were aware of the incident,” he stated when confirming with journalists on Saturday.

He added that police continue systematic scientific investigation to identify the perpetrator, and assured that the case remains a police priority.

“This matter is a priority and focus of the National Police Headquarters and Metro Jaya Regional Police,” Budi said.

Regarding the victim’s condition, Budi confirmed that Andrie remains hospitalised following diagnosis of 24 per cent burn injuries.

Andrie was attacked by unidentified assailants at approximately 23:37 WIB on Thursday, 12 March 2026 whilst riding his motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang in Central Jakarta, sustaining serious injuries across his body, particularly to both hands, face, chest, and eye area.

According to Kontras’s report, the attack occurred whilst Andrie was riding his motorcycle on Jalan Salemba I-Talang, Central Jakarta. Two perpetrators approached on a motorcycle, reportedly a Honda Beat automatic motorcycle manufactured between 2016 and 2021, with one operating as the driver and the other as the passenger.
