Human body part found at site of deadly landslide in West Bandung
West Bandung Regency police chief AKBP Niko Nurallah Adi Putra said a left foot, with intact muscle tissue, was found at the site of the former Pasirlangu landslide in Pasirlangu Village, Cisarua District, West Bandung Regency, West Java. The limb was discovered on Tuesday afternoon (19 May 2026) as heavy machinery was being used to tidy the river flow that emerged after the landslide. The landslide occurred on 24 January 2026 and claimed many lives.
‘Yes, that is correct, we received information about the discovery of a human body part, with intact muscle tissue at the Pasirlangu landslide site. The left foot,’ Niko said when contacted.
The body part was found at a depth of about one metre while the excavator was digging into the soil. Police suspect the body part belongs to a victim buried by the landslide who had not yet been recovered by the end of the evacuation period on 14 February 2026. The body part has been brought to Sartika Asih Hospital for forensic examination.
‘The assumption (is that it is a landslide victim) because the muscle tissue is still intact. However, to confirm, the body part has been taken to RS Sartika Asih for examination by the forensic team,’ Niko explained.
