Huge explosion damages two houses in Sumenep suspected to have originated from homemade firecrackers
The police have disclosed the suspected cause of the blast that damaged two houses in Dusun Pajung, Bantelan Village, Batuputih District, Sumenep, this morning. The explosion is believed to have originated from a manually assembled mercon (firecracker). The blast occurred at around 07:00 local time (WIB), causing two adjacent houses to suffer heavy damage. Two people were injured (previously reported by residents as three victims). The house, owned by Pusadin (45), a local farmer, had its bedroom wall blown in and the veranda collapsed. The two injured are Ainul Yakin (37) with burns and a head laceration, and Imroatus Shalihah (30) with minor injuries. They were promptly transported to the nearest medical facility for treatment.
