The evolution of foldable smartphones continues to deliver innovations that highlight not only the folding design but also the technology inside. Huawei is again strengthening this category with the arrival of the Huawei Mate X7, bringing a number of upgrades in camera, display, durability, and performance.

Senior Retail Manager of Huawei Device Indonesia, Edy Supartono, said Huawei continues to strive to deliver devices that are not only innovative but also relevant to the digital lifestyle needs of society today. ‘Technology is not just about specifications, but how it helps users express themselves, preserve moments, and stay connected with the world around them,’ Edy Supartono said during his briefing.

The Mate X7 is equipped with Ultra Lightning HDR Camera system 50 MP with a RYYB sensor, featuring a variable aperture from F1.49 to F4.0 and Optical Image Stabilisation (OIS). The main camera uses a 1/1.28-inch sensor enabling more optimal light capture. This camera also delivers a dynamic range of up to 17.5 EV, one of the highest in its class, allowing details to be captured clearly in both bright and dark areas within a single frame.

Ten physical aperture sizes are adjustable, giving users flexibility to tailor depth of field and exposure to their photography needs. The ultra-thin lens, measuring 0.4 mm in thickness, makes the camera module 1.12 mm shorter. The quad-cuts lens design also reduces the camera module size by 23 percent while increasing light absorption by up to 31 percent.

In addition to the main camera, the Mate X7 features an Ultra Wide Angle Camera 40 MP with a RYYB sensor and F2.2 aperture. This enables users to capture wider perspectives, ideal for landscapes, architecture, and group photos.

The device also includes a Telephoto Macro Camera 50 MP with a RYYB sensor, F2.2 aperture, and OIS support. It offers 3.5x optical zoom and 7x optical quality zoom, allowing distant subjects to be captured with preserved detail.

Huawei has also incorporated cluster focus lenses into the telephoto periscope, making the camera module 9 percent shorter. The focusing system is supported by a multi-dimensional integrated focus motor that is 76 percent smaller, yet capable of delivering OIS with 50 percent greater precision.

The camera capabilities are further enhanced by true-to-colour camera technology, which can improve colour reproduction by up to 43 percent and increase light absorption by up to 96 percent.

Not only for photography, the Mate X7 can record video with Ultra Lightning HDR Video, delivering a dynamic range up to 17.5 EV, providing more detailed and balanced visuals.

On the display side, the Mate X7 features a panel with peak brightness up to 3000 nits at 20 percent APL, ensuring clarity even in outdoor conditions. The screen also supports 1440 Hz PWM dimming for eye comfort, and an adaptive refresh rate of 1–120 Hz to make the display smoother and more power-efficient.

Huawei also places great emphasis on durability: the outer display is protected by Ultra Durable Crystal Armour Kunlun Glass, claimed to offer 16 times scratch resistance and 25 times drop resistance. For the hinge, Huawei uses Advanced Precision Hinge made from ultra-high-strength steel with a tensile strength of up to 2350 MPa, providing greater resilience when folding or unfolding. Meanwhile, the inner display features a three-layer ultra-strong structure that increases fold durability by 100 percent and enhances impact resistance by 20 percent.

The device is also resilient to various extreme conditions, including high-pressure water jets and hot water up to 80 degrees Celsius. The Mate X7 uses a middle frame made of aviation-grade aluminium, balancing strength with light weight.

To keep performance stable, Huawei includes a SuperCool Ultra Large VC cooling system and graphene heat dissipation. The system uses a 3550 mm² ultra-large vapour chamber with a thermal conductivity of 2000 W/m·K, helping control temperature during heavy use.

The Mate X7 is also equipped with a silicon‑anode battery with a capacity of 5600 mAh designed to support all-day use. The device supports 66 W wired charging and 50 W wireless charging, offering flexibility in charging.

In Indonesia, the Mate X7 is marketed at Rp27,999,000. With these innovations, the Mate X7 demonstrates how foldable technology continues to evolve not only in design but also in performance, photography, and durability. The combination positions the device as a premium foldable smartphone designed to meet the needs of modern users.
