Huawei Introduces MatePad Mini Tablet, Ready to Challenge iPad Mini
Jakarta – Huawei has officially launched its latest compact tablet, the Huawei MatePad Mini, to the global market following its earlier introduction in China alongside the Mate 80 smartphone last year.
According to Gizmochina on Friday, the device is positioned to compete with Apple’s iPad Mini and Xiaomi’s Pad Mini.
The Huawei MatePad Mini features a Flexible OLED PaperMatte display measuring 8.8 inches with a 16:10 aspect ratio and 2.5K resolution. The display offers a screen-to-body ratio of up to 92 per cent, peak brightness of 1,800 nits, and a 120Hz refresh rate.
The tablet is also equipped with anti-glare technology featuring an optical film layer to reduce light reflection and enhance visual comfort.
Huawei has not yet disclosed details of the chipset used. However, the device runs HarmonyOS 4.3, which supports advanced multitasking capabilities and productivity features. The tablet is compatible with the Huawei M-Pencil Pro stylus to support precise note-taking and drawing activities.
In terms of power, the device is equipped with a 6,400 mAh battery supporting 66W Huawei SuperCharge fast charging. Huawei claims the tablet features an intelligent power management system designed to maintain battery health for up to three years of use.
The MatePad Mini weighs approximately 255 grammes with a thickness of just 5.1 millimetres. Huawei has designed the device using a magnesium alloy frame and a 3D vegan fibre rear panel to deliver a combination of durability and lightweight construction.
The tablet also supports Wi-Fi 7 and Bluetooth 5.2 connectivity, and is equipped with dual speakers and several sensors, including a fingerprint scanner, gyroscope, and light sensor.
Huawei has not yet announced the official price for the MatePad Mini on the global market. In China, the MatePad Mini is priced from 3,999 yuan (approximately £400). The device is available in Spruce Green and Graphite Black colour options, with RAM options of 8GB or 12GB and internal storage up to 256GB.
Huawei also provides supporting accessories such as the Huawei M-Pencil Pro and Folio Cover, sold separately.
