Huawei ICT Competition 2026 Strengthens ASEAN's Digital Talent Readiness
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Huawei has once again organised the 10th Information and Communication Technology (ICT) Competition, participated in by thousands of students from more than a dozen countries in the Asia-Pacific region, which is expected to provide an opportunity to strengthen digital talent readiness, particularly in Southeast Asia.
ASEAN Secretary-General Kao Kim Hourn stated that empowering young talent is one of the strategies for developing the digital economy in Southeast Asia. This is increasingly relevant amid efforts by ASEAN member states to continue strengthening regional digital economic integration through the ASEAN Digital Economy Framework Agreement (DEFA).
“More than just providing technological solutions, this competition has become an incubator for the future generation of digital talent in this region,” he said while attending the final session of the Huawei Asia-Pacific ICT Competition in Jakarta on Wednesday (13/5).
This year marks the 10th edition of the competition, with a total of 8,600 student participants from 14 countries in the region. The competition, organised through collaboration between Huawei and the ASEAN Foundation, features four competition categories: Cloud Track, Network Track, Computing Track, and Innovation Track.
Bulacan State University from the Philippines emerged as the overall winner in the Network Track category, the National University of Singapore (NUS) as the overall winner in the Innovation Track category, and the Post and Telecommunications Institute of Technology from Vietnam, which secured two overall titles simultaneously in the Cloud Track and Computing Track categories.
Huawei Asia-Pacific Vice President Peter Pan Junfeng stated that the competition builds a strong bridge between the needs of academia and industry.
This agenda is also hoped to continue serving as a long-term foundation in building a more digital and intelligent Asia-Pacific, in line with Huawei’s vision and mission to promote digitalisation for everyone.
