Huawei Confident Mate 80 Pro Will Not Threaten Pura 80's Existence
Jakarta (ANTARA) - Huawei Device Indonesia’s Senior Retail Manager, Edy Supartono, is confident that the return of the Mate series in Indonesia via the Mate 80 Pro will not threaten or compete with sales of the other flagship series, the Pura 80. “The Mate series is indeed more focused on overall performance. Both in terms of the device, its camera, and trendy features – it’s not meant to compete with Pura because Pura’s segmentation is clearly for people who truly love photography,” said Edy in a brief interview in Jakarta on Thursday. Regarding pricing, Huawei is introducing the Mate 80 Pro in Indonesia at Rp16,999,000 and it will be available starting 24 April 2026 with a 16GB RAM and 512GB ROM configuration. From the price description, it is evident that both occupy the same price class, namely the high-end or premium class, but Huawei Device Indonesia is confident that they will not undermine each other’s existence. According to Edy, although both phones are in the same price class, they have different user segments, so they will not threaten each other’s existence. Users can be satisfied not only from the camera results but also from the performance for productivity, up to a lighter and trendier design. This differs from the Pura series, which is specifically designed for photography enthusiasts and requires professional-grade camera performance. “For users who aren’t really knowledgeable about photography, don’t know the golden ratio theory but want good photos, their choice is the Mate series,” said Edy.
