Huawei and SOLUM Launch Smart Shop-in-Shop Converged Network Solution to Accelerate Smart Technology Development in Retail
Barcelona, Spain, (ANTARA/PRNewswire) - At MWC Barcelona 2026, Huawei and SOLUM unveiled the Shop-in-Shop (SiS) Smart Converged Network solution. The solution is developed with an integrated retail infrastructure platform that combines digital infrastructure with electronic shelf labels (ESL). This innovative approach creates a scalable and cost-efficient architecture that supports global retailers in building a store network that is simpler and more efficient.
Continuing their previous collaboration on AP IoT convergence solutions, Huawei and SOLUM are expanding the partnership by presenting the SiS Smart Converged Network solution for shop-in-shop retailers at high-traffic locations such as large shopping centres, airports, railway stations, and exhibition centres. The solution ensures seamless integration between SOLUM’s Newton ESL and digital signage. Designed specifically for business operators requiring standalone solutions without fixed infrastructure—such as pop-up stores, restaurants, and brand-out stores—the solution facilitates real-time content updates, efficient management, and system scalability with single-device management.
The solution uses an integrated gateway supporting LTE, Wi-Fi, and ESL, so there is no longer a need for a dedicated ESL access point. The system supports initial integration and plug-and-play installation, and features an autonomous and secure network architecture. With this technology, retail outlets can reduce total cost of ownership (TCO) by up to 55%, while larger stores can save up to 33% in operating costs. In addition, retail stores can easily deploy this solution at diverse digital interaction touchpoints without depending on additional infrastructure, and head offices can manage the entire system remotely. The solution also offers millisecond-level response. Consequently, retailers can synchronise promotional content updates across stores worldwide instantaneously, whenever required.
Hoy-Jin Lee, Senior Vice President, SOLUM Europe, a provider of global retail solutions, said: “Working with Huawei, we have developed an All-in-One Retail Infrastructure Platform that unites digital infrastructure and ESL within a single scalable and cost-effective architecture. The solution can help retailers dramatically reduce operating costs.”
The latest solution forms an important part of Huawei’s smart retail portfolio. Looking ahead, Huawei will continue to work with SOLUM to deliver new innovations, including exploring AI applications in the retail store environment, deepening the development of retail technology, and accelerating digital and intelligent transformation in the retail industry.
