HSS Regent Pushes for Additional Raw Water Sources from Amandit Dam

The Regent of Hulu Sungai Selatan (HSS), South Kalimantan, H Syafrudin Noor, is pushing for the addition of raw water sources from the Amandit Dam in Malutu Village, Padang Batung District, to bolster clean water resilience.

During an inspection of the dam on Tuesday, the Regent stated that the water quality from the Amandit Dam is sufficiently good and clear, as it originates directly from the mountainous region. This serves as a raw water source for the Sungai Raya IKK Water Treatment Plant (IPA), which meets the community’s clean water needs.

Given these conditions, the Regent noted that this represents a potential resource that must be utilised to improve the quality of clean water services for the public.

“The tap water in the Sungai Raya District sourced from that dam is very clear, because it comes directly from the mountains,” the Regent said.

The HSS Regency Government also plans to construct pipeline connections from the Amandit Dam to the Muara Banta intake.

This step is expected to increase raw water sources to meet the needs of the population in Kandangan and surrounding areas.

“This year, we intend to carry out the installation of pipeline connections towards the Muara Banta intake,” he revealed.

The Regent explained that utilising water sources from the Amandit Dam is part of the regency government’s strategy to reduce water treatment costs in the long term, specifically by reducing the use of chlorine.

In addition to cost efficiency, these efforts are also aimed at improving the quality and health of the water consumed by the community.

“We want our children to receive clean, healthy water so they can grow healthily and normally, avoiding stunting, and to provide more maximal clean water services,” he expressed.
