PT Bank HSBC Indonesia (HSBC Indonesia) is strengthening its wealth management business by introducing the Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD mutual fund, which provides investment access to shares in global gold mining and precious metal companies.

“Through Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD, customers can gain exposure to gold and precious metal mining companies, benefiting from current positive trends,” said Lanny Hendra, International Wealth and Premier Banking Director at HSBC Indonesia, in a statement in Surabaya on Friday.

He explained that the product, managed by PT Batavia Prosperindo Aset Manajemen (BPAM), is a Sharia-compliant equity mutual fund that is actively managed with investment flexibility across various market capitalisations.

According to Hendra, investor interest in gold investments continues to rise, driven by the view that gold serves not only as a hedging instrument but also as a strategic asset for portfolio diversification in the face of geopolitical and economic uncertainty.

Based on HSBC research, he added, the medium-to-long-term prospects for gold remain positive, despite short-term price volatility caused by geopolitical conflicts.

Furthermore, the HSBC Global Affluent Investor Snapshot 2026, which surveyed nearly 10,000 affluent and high-net-worth investors across 10 global markets, showed that physical and digital gold has become the third most widely held asset globally.

In the survey, nine out of ten global investors plan to maintain or increase their gold allocations, with gold ownership notably high in India at 61 per cent, the United Arab Emirates at 49 per cent, and China at 49 per cent.

Meanwhile, Lilis Setiadi, President Director of PT Batavia Prosperindo Aset Manajemen, stated that the product provides access to the growth potential of the global gold industry through investment in gold mining companies with strong fundamentals and long-term prospects.

“As the role of gold in portfolio diversification increases, Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD is here to provide access to the potential growth of the global gold industry through investments focused on gold mining companies with strong fundamentals and long-term prospects,” she said.

Batavia Gold Sharia Equity USD is available to HSBC Indonesia customers with a minimum initial purchase of 10,000 US dollars and can be accessed via the HSBC Indonesia Mobile Banking application or through HSBC Indonesia branches.

HSBC reminds customers to read the product information in the prospectus and fund fact sheet, including the potential benefits of investment value growth as well as the risk of a decrease in the value of participation units.
